San Diego, CA (April 16, 2015) – Members of the San Diego Concierge Association teamed up with Feeding America, the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County, to help get food to those that need it most. Currently there are 480,000 individuals in San Diego County classified as food insecure, more than 160,000 of which are children.
Volunteers were educated on the issues of food insecurity, nutrition and poverty then quickly put to work sorting, bagging and boxing a variety of food. In a matter of two hours, over 3,750 pounds of food had been sorted and packaged for delivery!
Feeding American San Diego (FASD) is a non-profit organization devoted to feeding the hungry by distributing fresh, healthy food. FASD also works hard to incorporate nutrition education in all of their programs. Be sure to visit feedingamericasd.org to see how you can join the fight against hunger!
